This summer I came to the sad realization that I’d reached the end of an era.  My sweet little girl is no longer my little girl.  She is no longer drawn to wearing her Princess attire and doesn’t play with her Barbie Dolls as much.  My girl had officially entered the Tween phase.

Now, as I prepare to complete my Christmas shopping, I have come to another realization.  Her Christmas gift list is totally different from last year.  Last year her list was made up of all toys.  This year she doesn’t even know what she wants.  What kinds of gifts would a tween girl like to open up on Christmas morning? As many of you are aware, 2018 is Mickey Mouses’ 90th birthday.  While some of you may just shrug off this momentous occasion, I’m sure that many of us can think of at least one person who is a die-hard Mickey Mouse Clubber.  For me, that would be my mother.  There are so many Mickey Mouse gift ideas that I can choose from.  So this year my problem won’t be so much figuring out what she would like for Christmas but rather choosing a gift from the plethora of Mickey Mouse present options on the market right now.

This list is just a few of the options that I can choose from this year.

Being a parent is arguably the most important job in the world.  To pull it off successfully is no simple task. After all, Edna Mode famously said, “Done properly, parenting is a heroic act… Done properly.”  For this reason, we often turn to one another for parenting advice when we are faced with a trial or something new.  Most people will tell you what they did or what they heard others do to overcome these trials.

While many of these pieces of advice may help, they should be given after this rarely shared piece of parenting advice.   You, as a parent, need to personally be ready to accept these changes.

At this little juncture, I want to take a quick sec and say Thank You to each of you who have contributed your comments and thoughts to my page.  In a real sense, I am more interested in your experiences than I am my own since being Incredible really takes more than just one person.  With that said, I’d like to share one of my insights from the life of The Incredible Elastimom and how a dash of ‘Effit’ can go a long way.

About a year ago, my husband and I were wandering the aisles of Costco in an effort to track down some diapers and other miscellaneous items. We had a dear friend staying with us who had recently undergone surgery on her knee and was currently in the process of mustering enough strength to begin physical therapy. As we walked along the isles, I almost had to laugh at the idea that Costco seemed so strategic in how they had their big-dollar items laid out almost as soon as we walked in.  Among the items, in a section I will call the “New Year’s resolution” section, there was an Continue reading “3 Great Lies We Tell Ourselves Everyday That Make Being a Parent More Stressful”

Today while running around doing errands with my two little boys, I promised my three-year-old that we could go to Chick-Fil-A for lunch since he was such a good boy for me and helping me with his baby brother (honestly, this lunch trip was just as much of a treat for me as it was for him). While sitting in my booth and watching my boys play in the play area, I couldn’t help but overhear a young mother talking to an older woman, presumably her mom, about her two rambunctious boys.   Continue reading “14 Things That You Are Doing to Show Your Kids You Love Them”

Being parents hasn’t been easy, and we never expected the ride to be smooth.  We knew that there would be lots and lots of challenges to face and learn from, and I think that we’ve done a fairly decent job.  Part of learning from these difficulties is realizing that it’s ok to ask for help when you don’t know the answer and it takes practice.  Another thing that I’ve learned is that you need tools to help you be the best parent you can be for that day. With each of my kids, I’ve learned more about tools that have now become absolute staples in our house, and I’m not talking about food.  These are items that we use with our babies and continue to use them today. I even use these items on myself and my husband, they are that great. Continue reading “4 Baby Items That Are Used By Everyone In the Family”

Moms are pretty Incredible in so many things that they do.  So it is so sad when you see media posts out there that are shaming mothers for the littlest things.  In my previous post, I explore why I feel that mothers are the ultimate superheroes who rarely seek out the limelight for there actions.  In this second post, I would like to explore some of the Superpowers that moms possess.

Ok, I’ll be honest. I have a love-hate relationship with Netflix.  When Netflix first became a streaming service, I was really excited about having so many options available to me, but I didn’t have kids then.  When my kids became old enough to start choosing their own shows, I quickly learned how many low-budget and just outright stupid kid-shows there were for them to choose from.   Continue reading “10 Netflix Shows To Binge Watch With Your Kids (Or Without)”

When I started to think of names for my blog I was initially very resistant to my husband’s idea for ‘The Incredible Elasti-mom’.  I mean, I don’t personally think of myself as an “Incredible” mom by any stretch of the imagination and I definitely don’t want others coming to my blog to think that I have some sort of superiority complex. That is not who I am at all. Continue reading “Incredible Moms: The Original Superheroes”
